Our Mission and Philosophy

We believe that good health is the key to enjoyment of life's other blessings. The best foundation of a healthy lifestyle is healthy food, clean air, pure water, exercise, good relationships, and ample rest. Those simple ingredients can have a bigger impact than the genes you were born with. Yet, most people struggle with finding the right lifestyle balance.

We wrote The Great Life Makeover to make a difference in people's lives. The middle decades, starting in a person's late 30's and continuing through the 60's, are great years, but they have the potential to be the best years. Biological and psychological changes occur that often manifest themselves in the three hot button issues of midlife- weight, mood and sexual function. People require the right information and set of tools to navigate these issues, to insure the healthiest and most vibrant life possible. There is no longer a need to struggle unnecessarily with increased weight, decreased energy, diminished sexual function, and a bad mood.

Our book is a companion to the Great Life Program we developed at the Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The Myrna Brind Center is a world leader in the emerging integrative medicine health care model, pioneering major clinical research and scholarly work in the field. For more than ten years we have been helping individuals and couples take charge of their most important assets- their health, functional capacity, and relationships.

We are recognized experts on aging, hormones, and integrative health care. Our philosophy affirms the interrelationship of mind, body and spirit, and how every biological system affects the others. We are guided by the science of conventional medicine, and we understand how lifestyle factors- diet, activity level, emotional stress, and others have a profound impact on virtually every facet of health and wellness. We consider ourselves to be wholistic, optimistic, science-based, systems-based, innovative, creative, and integrative, and our mission is nothing short of improving quality of life on every level.
